Why The Natural Hair CULT (Community) is TRASH...? WILL SHE QUIT?

Hey sis, hey! Thanks to our readers this site is now an "Amazon Associate", we earn from qualifying purchases! Thanks to y'all, more free content is coming at ya! Heyyy!

This was a very interesting video from YouTube celebrity EfikZara

She basically just takes a moment to rant and explain that she has become frustrated by the strictness and rules that many women in the natural hair community try to enforce upon others.

She showed how some women like to comment about others who wear weaves and use hair extensions, and not only straight extension, but kinky curly extensions as well.

And it’s true, some sistas do behave as if it should be against the law or against someone’s religion to use certain products.

Protective Styling or an “Excuse”?  Girrrl...

The other day I even heard a woman say that some naturals use the term “protective styling” as an excuse to wear "fake hair".

I thought that was ridiculous:

Because it was as if  This woman was saying that other grown women actually needed an excuse to wear a product that they buy with their own money.

That was messed up and super judgmental.

And although we are BlackHairOMG don't encourage the use of chemical relaxers because of health problems that it could bring. I want you to check her video out and tell me below if you agree with her sentiments.

Watch Vid To Hear Her Spill The Tea...

Conclusion: She's Right...

I do understand EfikZara’s frustration with having so many outside voices telling other people what they should do with their own hair.

So look: As with any movement or group of people moving in the same direction you will always have your extremist.

People who think that everyone else should do things EXACTLY as they do.

Hopefully, sistas like EfikZara won't allow others to discourage them and knock them off their square.

And honestly, I hope more YouTube natural hair vloggers begin to speak out about a lot of the double standards that there are in the natural hair community, especially against darker skin women, type 4 hair and short hair.

4 Black Women Discuss Professional Hairstyles for Natural Hair In The Corporate World

Here’s the deal: Professional hairstyles for natural hair are becoming a very big topic of conversation lately.

With the up-rise of the natural hair movement and the large number of black women working in corporate America, it was bound to become a topic of conversation.

Do you work in corporate America?

Do you have plans to work a corporate job and keep your natural hair?

Well these women do and they talk about the challenges they face, silly questions they answer and the mental strength needed to be comfortable in their own hair when many people are not yet accustomed to seeing it or even understanding it.

Professional hairstyles for natural hair in the corporate world is often a matter of opinion, but when most of those that surround you have opinions based on lack of knowledge or exposure, how would you handle yourself?

That's what makes this video interview about corporate hairstyles for natural hair interesting.

The questions that these women have to face on a daily basis are quite revealing and has caused some to shy away from enjoying their natural hair to the fullest. Check out the video below and let me know in the comment section if you have any ideas of corporate hairstyles for curly hair that you will be rockin' while you're clockin' dollars.

Lee's Video Highlights:

  • One of the women expressed her frustration about not being able to just "go to work and do your job" as a natural in corporate America.
  • Although the women are proud to be natural, they do admit that it can be a challenge. Especially when having to answer questions like, "Do you wash your hair everyday?". It's not always comfortable answering a million questions.
  • One of the corporate women was told while going through law school that "You're never going to make it natural", but years later she still is and happy for it.

Wash and Go! Kinky Curly Curling Custard + Diffuser

Check out Ally's video demonstrating a cute Wash and Go using Kinky Curly Curling Custard and a diffuser.

She uses a unique blow dryer attachment called a diffuser that is used to spread the airflow across a large section of her natural hair.

It is mainly used for curly hair, because the air flow does not cause frizz or interfere with the curl pattern. A diffuser works well for wash and go hairstyles, as you can imagine many natural ladies don’t enjoy leaving the house with their soaking wet hair. Nobody is trying to go out and get sick just for trying to be cute! Haa...

And for most women when they wear a wash and go completely air drying is not an option, many times natural hair can and will take 24 hours or more to dry.

Try waking up with your hair matted to your head, because it was still wet from the day before and tell me how much you like it. I guarantee that it's absolutely no fun.

Hilarious Viral Natural Hair Video Creator Speaks

it aint over natural hair song video
Laugh out loud funny! OMG!

Had me laughin' like I was watching Bernie Mac & Cedric The Entertainer!

Myisha Thomas, a proud natural-haired South Carolina woman who made the transition to natural hair a while back has created a HILARIOUS viral Facebook video, popularity has exploded with over half a million views in a matter of a couple days (at the time this writing).

In the video, Myisha Thomas uses her beautiful voice to sing her comedic lyrics about her struggle from relaxed hair to natural curly hair. " For all the transitioners," she wrote. "#ItAintOver #BeEncouraged."

We tracked the new natural hair sensation down and we were excited to ask the talented natural a few questions about her motivation for the vid! We'd actually posted her video this morning in the OMG Black Hair Conversation FB Group and the group members went crazy over it! We were  very happy to get a chance to interview her, so take a look at the question and answer she gave to BlackHairOMG and check out the video below if you haven't seen it or want to laugh AGAIN!

BlackHairOMG Q & A With Myisha "It Aint Over" Thomas

Q: Black Hair OMG -  Myisha, your viral video was one of the first things we posted in our OMG Black Hair Conversation group the morning after you posted it, it's a HUGE hit with naturals. How did you come up with the idea to do your song parody?
A: Myisha Thomas - I was thinking about a conversation I had with one of my cousins this weekend about her transitioning process and when I heard the Maurette Brown-Clark song, it just came to me.
Q: Black Hair OMG - You have an amazing voice and that made the video so much more  impressive. Tell us about your singing history...

A: Myisha Thomas - Well I've been singing in church since I was about 5 years old,  but I've never had any formal training.

Q: Black Hair OMG - Besides your beautiful voice, you have everybody DYING laughing with your sense of humor. Who are your comedic influences (famous or non-famous)?

A: Myisha Thomas - Katt Williams is definitely my favorite comedian of all time, Kevin Hart is another big influence, but honestly, the funniest people I know are my mother and father. Seriously, those old people have jokes for DAYS! Lol

Q: Black Hair OMG - How long have you been natural and for how long?

A: Myisha Thomas - I transitioned for 8 months and finally gave in and did the big chop in May 2015.

Q: Black Hair OMG - Was there any underlying message you were sending to the natural
community or were you just having some fun?

A: Myisha Thomas - I just wanted to encourage girls like me who are transitioning and may feel like giving up, to keep going. The message is patience, love, and perseverance!

Wrapping It Up

Well, the Black Hair OMG family are huge fans of yours. Please let us know if you have any more videos you'd like the fam to see in the future, we'd love to premiere them! We love the positivity and fun you bring to the movement.

So let's get to it. Our 3rd family member natural hair journey....

My Natural Hair Journey #3: Brittany

My name is Brittany and I have been natural for 2 years now.

I stopped putting perms in my head because my hair was breaking out, I was tired of wasting money and I wanted curly hair. Going natural was the best decision I could ever make. My hair has grown a lot during these two years.

I love the versatility of my natural hair. Three times out of the year I will flat iron it but that is it. The rest of the time I will flat twist it.

I have tried to do Bantu knots, or roller sets but hair just comes out looking a mess. I don't use any type of pills to help make my hair grow I just use the LOC method. My favorite products are coconut oil, cantu leave in conditioner, lotta body setting lotion and lotta body curl and style milk. I am still trying to find the right products for my hair. As a natural I had no idea of the maintenance to maintain it.

I flat twist it daily and every now and then I will wear an afro. I think I have 3 different curl patterns but I love my curls. I get a lot of compliments on my worst hair days lol.

Going Natural Wasn't Always Easy

My first year was the hardest I contemplated perming my hair several times.my natural hair journey I would go online looking for natural hairstyles and try them only for them to not work for me and that became extremely frustrating.

Going natural wasn't the easiest thing at because people that were use to seeing me with straight, long, uneven not healthy hair were negative.

It brought my self esteem down but I am over that now and so are they. I love my different curl patterns and I wouldn't change a thing about my hair. If anyone knows good moisturizers please let me know.

My hair still has a dry look to it and I don't know how to fix that. Love the skin your in and your curl pattern. Don't give up on your natural hair journey.

My Natural Hair Journey #2: Sabrina Royster

natural hair journey pictures
Sabrina Is All Smiles and Curls

Looking back, I've honestly been headed toward this journey since I was 10 years old. That's the year I got my first relaxer.

That was the first year my hair fell out. I was devastated. However, when I turned 13, I tried a relaxer again. This time I tried a more mild relaxer thinking this would solve the problem. It took a year and a half before my hair fell out, but it all broke off--again. I was ashamed of my inability to grow hair the way everyone else seemed to accomplish so easily. My hair has never even been shoulder length. Since that first relaxer, I've done just about everything to my hair.

I cut it all off, colored it, pressed it, relaxed it, weaved it. There have been many ups and downs, but the most notable was spring of 2012.

I had started a natural journey in the winter of 2011 after the birth of my daughter. Her curls were beautiful and inspired me to rediscover my own. My twin sister and a good friend had both been natural for some time already so I decided to stop straightening my hair. I dyed it a rich brown hue and was loving every moment but struggling with styling and starting a good hair regimen. I made the unfortunate decision to go and get one last sew-in.natural hair growth journey The stress of a crumbling marriage, in conjunction with a weave braided and sewn in too tight left me with a bald spot the size of Kansas. Again I was devastated. I felt less of a woman with my crown destroyed.

I realize in hindsight that returning natural was just a small part on my larger journey to find myself. I started losing weight, did my first big chop and decided to do a year heatless. The colored ends slowly broke off and in 2014, I finally had an afro I could be proud of. My soon to be 4 year old daughter loves to get her natural styles and she always says she wants her hair to look just like mine!

I wanted to show her that she's already beautiful the way she is and so am I. I've still got a lot to learn on this journey and when I want to give up, I stare at those big brown eyes looking up at me and press on. My ultimate goal? Long healthy beautiful hair completing our portrait of being just us.

A huge thanks to Sabrina for sharing your story about natural hair growth journey and natural hair journey pictures.
