10 Reasons Why Your Hair ISN'T GROWING

Look sis, life is too-dang-short to be walkin' around with a head full of struggle strands and faulty follicles.  Ya heard me? (Birdman voice)

Be honest... Are you struggling to grow your hairs as fast as you'd like to?

Are you tired of seeing other women show off their miracle growth pics and feeling like you never really know the FULL STORY as to HOW they are growing and keeping hair such healthy, beautiful hair?

You ain't alone honey.

We get women writing in to BlackHairOMG all the time asking about certain hair growth regimens or hair health products for growth.

Well... Let's get right into it. These 10 hair growth mistakes are VERY common, and they need to stop so that your hair growth can start.

The 10 Deadly Hair Growth Sins

#1 - Trusting Your Hair Growth To a Stylist

YOU need to take responsibility for LEARNING WHAT YOUR HAIR NEEDS. Your stylist may love you to death, but they will never care about your hair as much as you do.

Many stylists are more concerned with THEIR OWN COMFORTABLE HABITS when doing hair, often they are not willing to listen to you about what you need and then ACTUALLY DO IT.

If you insist... I guess.

You ever find yourself getting talked out of what you wanted her to do? It happens all the time. Many feel like a mama, talking to kids who don't know what's good for them.

BUT IF YOU STUDY YOUR HAIR, you will know what's good for you and you might be better off just doing it yourself.

They are not with your hair 24-7, you are. So please equip yourself with the knowledge. Test different oils, creams, regimens.

Write your experiments in a journal, track your successes and failures and piece together the PERFECT plan of action. You are your best hope for finding your hair growth keys.

Sin #2 - Not Paying Attention To Your Hair Product Ingredients

Avoiding harsh chemicals is a must, if you don't recognize the first 3

Great, Natural Ingredients.

ingredients on the label, it's probably not something you should put on your scalp.

An example of a GREAT ingredient list with natural and organic products that help hair instead of hurt it, she was reading the ingredient list for Fro Butter with Emu Oil. Excellent example!

Sin #3 - Not having a WEEKLY Hair regimen

Having a weekly hair regimen that you follow gives you the STRUCTURE  and consistency needed to start growing hair like a BOSS.

Please click the Facebook SHARE BUTTON on the upper-left to share BlackHairOMG with friends, it helps us keep writing free info!

Sin #4 - Not LISTENING To Your Hair

Having a weekly hair regimen is also made for learning and being able to listen. Remember I talked about having a hair journal?

Well, when your hair screams out for a change in your regimen, change it and write down what you did. That way you are taking note when your hair speaks! Literally...

Sin #5 - Being TOO Hands On

When your main goal is hair growth, that means your #1 goal is also hair retention.

One major enemy of hair retention is you constantly messing with your hair and manipulating it. Find low-manipulation hairstyles, and leave your hair alone to grow in peace, honey!

Sin #6 - Not Wearing Stretched Styles Enough

When you have kinky hair it's soooo easy to get kinks and knots. Wearing stretched styles eliminates that problem.

Sin #7 - Think Deep Conditioning Is a Special Event

No, No, No! You can deep condition every week! Don't wait til you have a hair emergency or you start feeling dryness. Deep condition weekly (or as much as possible), it's a hair saver!

Sin #8 - You saying, "Aaah, Porosity, Smorosity... WHATEVAH..."

You need to understand your hair porosity level. You think we out here Bull-Jivín' when we bring up porosity? That is critical knowledge for understanding your specific needs when you are trying to moisturize and stay moisturized. Without proper and constant moisture..... SNAP CRACKLE POP baaaaaby. Get it together.

Sin #9 - Using Moisturizers That Don't Match Your Hair type

This goes back to #8 a lil' bit, because how will you know the best moisturizer for your hair if you don't know what type of hair you have?

Also, if you have chemically-damaged hair from perming or dyeing that is a clue as to what types of moisturizers to use and avoid. Weather-damaged hair has different moisturizing needs as well. That's why BlackHairOMG is here to teach you what you need to know 🙂

Sin #10 - Oiling Without Moisturizing FIRST

Where would we be without amazing hair oils??? They are a MUST, a staple, a God-send! BUUUUUTTTTT!!!!

A Big Ol' But.

OILS!!! Understand Their Role and GROW!

One MAJOR confusion many of us have is that oils actually moisturize. They do not.

Moisture comes from water, oils and nutrients and SEAL IN moisture.

Listen, very-light oils with smaller molecular particles actually penetrate your hair follicles to deliver nutrients and then seal that moisture in.

Heavier oils with larger molecular particles do not penetrate, they simply coat and seal whatever moisture you already have infused.

Either way, if you seal your hair without first infusing it with moisture through some kind of moisturizing cream, co-wash, leave-in condition, etc. It's like tying the end of a balloon that's filled with air, and expecting to see water inside afterwards.

No, if you want a water balloon, you put water in first THEN you seal the balloon. So always keep that in mind.

Oil does not moisturize, but PENETRATING OILS, like Moroccan argan oil, do super-charge your moisturized hair with healthy nutrients and seals all that goodness inside. that's a recipe for some booty-length hair if you stick to a healthy regimen.

5 Reasons to "STOP Using Coconut Oil and Shea Butter"!

Image result for confused expression cartoon

I can hear you now.... "BLAAAAASPHEMY!!!!!!"

OK, chill out. Don't go all Wakanda warrior princess on my behind for dissin' shea butter and coconut oil. Ya hear me? Haa!

Look, before y'all come for me. Just know this...

  • 1st, you can't come for me until I send for you, that's my rule. Put some RESPECK ON IT. Lol...
  • 2nd, This Shea Butter slander aint comin' from me! So don't shoot the messenger.

STILL...

I do want this information from professional hairstylist Aeleise Jana to be heard though. Because MANY naturals still are struggling with their hair regimen.

Why?

PLEASE SHARE THIS article on Facebook or Twitter for your friends, it will keep us providing free info too!

Because they just do what they see working for others and automatically expect the same results. Many times that's a mistake.

So, alot of y'all gonna think this sista has lost her mind because she says “Stop with the coconut oil and shea butter.”

I already know. Stop being mean sis, let her speak...

HEAR HER OUT FIRST! Sheesh....

Because for SOME WOMEN and their unique hair needs, maybe she has the best advice that they'll hardly ever hear anywhere else.

Who "Talking Crazy" Bout My Coconut Oil and Shea?

So let me introduce you too Aeleise Jana, she’s a professional natural hairstylist (I'll post a video from her below), Aeleise is a self-professed “Curl Geek” whose seen 100's of natural hair clients who’ve had the same common issues.

They ALL suffered from dried out, frizzy, crunchy hair.

What did they ALL have in common???

They were putting coconut oil and shea butter on their hair like it was going out of style!

Her 5 Issues w/ Coconut Oil & Shea  - SEE IF YOU AGREE!

#1 - They cause build up.

So you’re an avid user of coconut oil/shea butter and you use it religiously. Not only do you think this is the holy grail to your hair regimen, you’re probably also insistent about using sulfate-free shampoos. Often a sulfate-free shampoo or co-wash doesn’t include surfactant (cleansing) agents that are strong enough to remove gunky buildup.

Repeating this process over and over again without clarifying and soon enough you can end up suffering from permanently dry hair.

Aleise advises that reducing or eliminating the use of coconut oil and shea butter eliminates the need for harsher, more powerful shampoos.

Also, when we think of hair oils and butters, coconut and shea are among the heaviest.

So heavy, that they can create a barrier between your hair shaft and water. Aeleise says, “Shea butter and coconut oil used the way most consumers do suffocates the hair and scalp. Moisture = water. Oil= sealant. If you don’t clarify the oil layer off of the hair and allow water to get into the cuticle you’re moisturizing dry hair.”

The actual moisturizing agent, water, is being blocked from entering the cuticle. Ouch!

#2 - They lead to dry hair.

Sure, you might think that the sheen from coconut oil/shea butter you see on your hair means that it’s moisturized. Well....

According to Aeleise, “Water evaporates in 4-7 days from hair so adding coconut oil or shea butter to dry hair then co-washing or using weaker sulfate- free shampoos contributes to the experience of dry hair.”

#3 - They cause frizz.

When hair is shampooed and sealed with either coconut oil or shea, the hair is blocked from absorbing any moisture from the atmosphere. According to Aeleise, “Anything on top of that already closed cuticle seals water in and out.” In the case of coconut oil and shea butter, we are sealing water out of the hair, thus not allowing it to gain entrance to our hair strands.

She further goes on to explain, “Once the water stored in the hair evaporates [after] 4-7 days, the hair reaches out to the atmosphere for water (i.e. dry, rough, frizzy hair).”

#4 - They do not moisturize the hair.

Water=Moisture. Oil=Sealent. “There’s no need for oils (natural or petroleum based) on the hair but for sealing or lubrication. A healthy scalp contains sebaceous glands that provide a protective layer for the scalp skin. Light oils that form a protective barrier around the hair strand are fine. What’s not okay is an absorbed oil (coconut oil and shea butter) that blocks water out of the hair strand.”

#5 - They’re not water soluble.

Aeleise suggests, “alternative ingredients like aloe vera, jojoba oil, almond oil, marshmallow root, etc. that are water-soluble or able to be easily removed with a light cleanser serve the hair better. Also, a properly formulated lower ph conditioner does the job of closing the cuticle down over the water therefore sealing.”

Listen... She's NOT a "YouTuber", but she has made a few videos... Don't judge her advice on the fact that she doesn't use YouTube to pay her bills. It's not her focus. Helping naturals with their hair IN-PERSON is her profession... Here's the vid.

You probably gonna feel some-kinda-way and start sniffin' around for answers.

If you haven't heard of the Yao women, look...

With their average hair length of about 6 feet, the Yao ethnic women made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the “world’s longest hair village. They know something.... Let's Investigate.

Part of their secret to having such long hair lies in washing it with fermented rice water.

And there are a bunch of ways to get the amazing healthy-hair benefit and grow your hair stealing some of their tricks.

Rice water contains vitamins like Vitamin B, C, and E and amino acids which can help in hair regeneration. Hair shedding also slows down.

In a study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science in 2010, researchers showed that using rice water as a hair treatment offered significant benefits including reducing surface friction and increasing hair elasticity which ultimately stops hair breakage and hair fall.

There are many ways to make your oil rice rinse, fermented or non-fermented. Many say the fermented version is kindy funky smelling.

Pros and Cons I Noticed From Print Reviews

I've read more reviews than I can count for these products AND I've used them myself.

I loved it by the way. So here are the main things you learn about Royal Herbal Organics shampoo and conditioner when examining reviews...

PROS:

  • Boosts hair growth like crazy...
  • Smell Amazing...
  • Heals hair to fight split ends...
  • Adds brilliant shine and volume...
  • Strengthens from the inside out...
  • Give protection against future hair damage...
  • Gets rid of dandruff...
  • Strengthens your roots...
  • Moisturizes like nobodies business...

CONS:

  • A bit pricey...
  • Bottle size is too small for some...

Really, the ONLY (very few) complaints I saw in some written reviews of Royal Herbal Organic's poo and condish combo was people SLIGHTLY complaining about the price and bottle size, even then, they were still saying they love the products and would buy again. It's just worth it.

And it's handmade, so you're always gonna pay a lil' more for the extra attention to detail and hand craftsmanship involved.

The Science Behind Why Fermented Rice Heals Hair: INOSITOL

Both scientists and beauty lovers have tried to find why rice water works so well at beautifying, strengthening and growing hair. Well...

Studies have found that the natural chemical inositol, an ingredient found in rice water, is able to penetrate damaged hair and repair it from the inside out. It even protects hair from future damage.

This inositol even stays in your hair even after the rice water is rinsed off, acting as a shield and protecting your hair from damage. Rice water also contains amino acids that strengthen the hair roots, increase hair volume, and make your hair shiny and smooth.

It's perfect for hair.

Helpful Comments From Viewers - See What They Say!

  • Missy Junior comments..."The real hair growth comes from massaging your scalp with hot oil and your head tilted at a 90 degree angle. The other extra stuff isn't necessary.

I used to do it from another video on YouTube and it works the same. You do it for 1 week out of the month."

  • Keana Henry comments...
"Never commented on YouTube videos but this little treatment has honestly been AMAZING for my hair ??????. It was all different lengths with the bottom being longest and the middle and top really short in comparison.

I tried this yesterday and the first thing I noticed was that my hair was almost twice as thick! Really wasn't expecting that. After I blow dried my hair I realised it was all pretty much the same length which is now by my shoulders!! So excited to use this treatment again in the future and take care of my hair properly."

  • Jo Young
"Love your video! Tip: use coconut oil mixed with castor oil...sit under hair drier for 30 minutes...like a hot oil treatment and leave in over night with shower cap on, wash hair next day...i do this every other day and my hair grows like crazy...oh and i'm black...you know our hair."
  • Smart Kids
"Is this an April fools prank. The truth is, there is no magical cream or process that will make your hair grow overnight. That not how it work."

3 Ways to Air-Dry Your Natural Hair

AIR-DRYING??? Hecks-to-the-YEAH!!!

"AIR-DRYING MY NATURAL HAIR?!?!? Awwww Hecks NAW!"

That's not what this young sista named Kiara said while showing you how to air-dry LIKE A BOSS after she used The L.O.C. Method.

Still though...

"HECKY NAW" is what a lot of folks say about air-drying and that's a mistake you MUST avoid if you want the healthiest hair possible.

Don't be scuuuuured girl, ha! When you hear the words "air-drying" do you start running for the hills?

Are you scared your hair is gonna turn into a tangled bird’s nest?

Yes? OK, well, just recognize the fact that you are trippin' right now and let's K.I.M. peeples....

For the Suburbanites among us, K.I.M. means "keep it movin''  If you speak in Ol' Otis dialect, it's KOM. (Keep On Movin')

My advice is that you listen to Ol' Otis unless you wanna get roasted, lol.

K.O.M. Russ Parr or Get Roasted By Ol' Otis

Anywaaaayz, foolishness aside.

This super-helpful video from a little-known BELOW from a cute lil' YouTuber caught my eye and I want to share her knowledge with you and hopefully get this young sista a few more subscribers.

This video tutorial will help you put the blow dryer down. Maybe not for good, but long enough to get some health back on your scalp.

Pros and Cons of Air-Drying Natural Hair

A lot of Lovelies think that they can get the same results either way, whether they are air-drying or blow-drying with heat.

So I'm gonna take a minute to break down for you the different results you get when you air dry your natural hairstyle vs. when you sit under a hood dryer and heat.

PROS:

  • With air drying your natural textured hair, you are helping your hair stay more moisturized, that's MAJOR. You see...
  • Skipping the damaging heat of the dryer is a must if you already have dry hair. And it also saves a bunch of time.
  • It's such a time-saver, you can simply wash and style your hair and go. And if you want to use the dryer to speed things up, just sit under that bad girl for maybe 5 minutes or so, and bounce.

CONS:

Nothing is perfect love... We don't promise perfection. So here are some downsides to air drying...

  • The thing that some naturals say about air-drying is that it does not leave your hair looking as polished as a blow dryer. Especially for thick type 4 hair. The thicker your hair then the longer it takes to dry, you already know girl....
  • Your hair is probably not going to be as shiny as it would be with heat drying and it might not last as long. By sitting under the dryer you reduce the amount of puffiness and frizz.
  • The dryer allows your defined curls to set much quicker which leads to a polished finished with shine. Something that is hard to get with air drying.

But liiiiisten Lovely.... YOU WILL SEE THE BENEFITS if you air-dry your hair, it's so natural and helpful. Check it out!

VIDEO TUTORIAL: 3 Ways to Air Dry Natural Hair

NOW LOOK....

For overall hair health, air-drying is something to embrace.

You won't damage the structure of your hair like you do when applying heat and your hair live to try various hairstyles that would never be achieved with burnt out, damaged hair.

Skeptical About Air-Drying Your Natural Hair?

If you’re skeptical about the benefits of drying your hair this way, I recommend doing a test trial. Section and braid/twist your hair as usual, but leave one section in the back of your hair to air dry in the way described in the video.

If you find that your hair tangles or that it simply isn’t worth the effort then you’ll only have one section to restyle.

However, I think you’ll find that these techniques will DEFINITELY help sistas with thick hair to dry their hair much more quickly than normal air-drying tactics,  and will also effectively prep your hair for stretched full natural hairstyles whenever you want.

So as you can see... These step-by-step instructions for an Onion Juice recipe that will help grow your hair is using all-natural ingredients and is backed by science.

It doesn't get any better than this.

HELPFUL POINTERS TO REMEMBER:

  1. Onion Essential Oil also provides the same benefits. Onion essential oil is potent so make sure you mix it with a carrier oil. Black Castor Oil is a great option.
  2. To mask an onion smell, add essential oils to your shampoo to wash it out. Also, add an essential oil to whatever oil and/or cream you use to style your hair.
  3. Make sure to keep your eyes closed while washing out the onion juice recipe so the pepper does not get into your eyes.
  4. The cayenne pepper also does a great job at opening your pores on your face. So, this is a great time to use a really good facial moisturizer on your face b/c it will penetrate really well.

This hair growth elixir made from onions and cayenne might seem like it would stink, but the results are so sweet.

Stop the hair shedding, thicken your edges and growth that LUSCIOUS y'all!

Review of some advanced features of FHI Heat Flat Irons

The Exclusive Proprietary Nano-Fuzeion™ Technology only exists in FHI products. They produce gently Far Infrared Heat, and low Electromagnetic Field is very effective for treating damaged hair gently.

Once you drag the flat iron on hair, it will lose heat, say, if the temperature set is 400F, when sliding the iron through your hair for a while, the temperature will drop to 390F. The FHI solved this problem with their RAPIDTEK™ Heating Technology which instantaneously balances heat lost to maintain the temperature consistently from the root to the bottom of your hair. This feature is only offered with the FHI Heat EPS Black Diamond Digital model. The ceramic tourmaline plates significantly reduce heat damage while treating your hair gently.

One user and her sister have been using this flat iron and left this review...

My sister and I absolutely love this straightener, we would not trade this this for anything else. It came in on time with everything they said it would come with. We're blackgirls without perms and it does our hair wonders. I was recommended this product and decided to buy it off of Amazon seeing how it is one of my favorite sites to shop. The packaging was more than secure and I really appreciate that because it was a bit expensive. We still use it and have no complaints about it. I would definitely buy from this seller again and recommend all to choose this seller when buying hair products. Thank you

For those who use FHI the first time were impressive with the design, color, and result. One called it this is a curling iron and it works great on her natural hair. The iron gets hot very fast giving me a shiny straight look. If you have a natural hair like me,  it is easy for you to straighten it at around 350F, a reviewer says.

Review of FHI Heat Flat Iron: EPS Black Diamond Digital.

Made with advanced technology, this hair styling tool will make you feel like you're using a smart device, the FHI Flat iron is the combination of technology and style and known for bringing the grooming industry’s latest developments. If you are addicted to smart devices, this is an ideal device you and for the tech-savvy stylists. The EPS iron features digital temperature control, color-coded for hair type and textures, and unmatched ceramic black diamond plates. The plates generate more 25% moisture-locking ions, drying out your hair will not be a major concern with this device.

The advantage of digital control is that you can change stepwise 1 degree, unlike conventional models there is limited setting( from 5 to 25).

The energy saving feature-sleeping mode will reduce the temperature into half after 3-minutes of non-use, then it will “awaken” when you touch it.

You see a lot of good things about FHI flat iron, there is a minor downside of this flat iron. Unlike other flat irons, EPS Black Diamond Digital doesn’t have the most common problem that comes from the heating such as the temperature of plates is not set exactly as number display on screen or on the dial. However, there are a couple of small complaints about the button for the digital model, some users find it is hard to press. It is not a big deal, above all, they are still a great value for the price.

Priced Just Under $200 Dollar - A GREAT Value!

Here are some reviews of EPS Black Diamond Digital.

I've only been using this for a week, but so far I'm very happy. I had a Solia straightener for close to 10 years which I loved, but this is better. It heats quickly, sleeps when inactive (great for me as I sometimes forget to turn off and unplug in the rush of the morning), and has been great at smoothing my very thick hair. I also like the carrying case and extra long cord, which has a Velcro attachment so that you can tie up the excess cord if you don't need it to stretch so far or when putting away. I bought this at the recommendation of my hair stylist and as long as it holds up, I think it was a great purchase.

7 Steps to Stopping Hair Breakage at The Crown

Hey Gorgeous!

Listen... I tested the crown hairs of 10 of my friends.  Keep reading to see what I found.

This post is long but informative!  I encourage you to read the whole thing to get all the info you need!

Ok so let's jump right into this tea, shall we?

You would think that our crown would be the most protected, less manipulated, and therefore the easiest part of our hair to grow and maintain length.  Not so in many cases, hair breakage at the crown is a big problem.  In fact, for some of us, it is the most fragile and kinkiest part of our hair.  So what is going on up there?

Why Does Hair Breakage at The Crown Happen?

First, I want to say that not everyone is suffering from hair breakage at the crown.  If you have a tighter texture up there, it could just be that you have more shrinkage at your crown than other areas of your hair.  This could make it appear shorter when it really may not be.

However, because of this fact, you could be manipulating your crown more to help shape your hair into that ever so popular heart shape.  If your crown has a ton of shrinkage then you're left with mullet shaped hair (lol) which leads to tons of over-manipulating to shape into a heart (put that hair pick down chile).

The over-usage of tools to shape your hair and volumize is a HUGE culprit in the crown breakage mystery.  If your texture is tighter up there, it's probably more fragile and more prone to breakage, so the hair pick doesn’t make it any better.

The Test of 10 Friends - Hair Thinning at Crown or Nah?

So let's back up and talk about the structure of crown hair for a bit, shall we?

I asked 10 of my friends to come over my house and let me examine their scalps and crown hair.  Of those 10 friends, 6 had crown issues.  All 6 of the ones with crown issues had type 4 hair.

Of those 6, ALL of them had high porosity in that area, more shrinkage, suffered from reduced curl definition, breakage, frizz and dryness.

The 4 ladies without hair breakage at the crown were type 3 or less. Those 4hair breakage at the crown - black hair thinning at crown had normal porosity and didn’t suffer from any of the issues that my type 4 friends reported.

I then kicked those looser curled friends out of my house (just kidding)!

After speaking with the remaining 6 with crown issues, they reported that they use tools to help shape their crowns on a daily basis (over manipulation).

High Porosity Hair & Low Porosity Hair On The Same Head

So I'm about to get "Science-y" on y’all real quick. Let's circle back to porosity: Their porosity was different at their crown than any other area of their heads. They all had high porosity at their crown and normal or low porosity in most other areas of their hair. Strange right?

After they left, I kept their hair in little baggies.

No, I didn’t do voo-doo.  I applied a mild protein treatment to each of their strands to see if the porosity would change after this.  And sure enough it did!

Their little hairs either stayed on top of the water or floated to the middle. The protein filled in the little areas of their hair that were missing which initially caused their hairs to sink to the bottom.  These missing areas contribute to the fragility of your hair strand and increase breakage.

These missing areas are also what causes high porosity hair which causes your hair to easily accept and lose moisture. Protein helps fill in those weak areas and controls your moisture retention rates.

A lot of naturals think they are "protein sensitive" and therefore stay away from proteins.  However, our fragile Type 4 crowns seem to benefit best from proteins.

Yes, proteins may not give you that "slip" and they may leave your hair feeling like "straw".  They are not meant to detangle they are meant to strengthen.  So you may need to follow up behind that protein treatment with a moisturizing conditioner, but your hair will be stronger once that whole process is complete.

                                                ONE WARNING HOWEVER:

Stop using protein when you notice that its cause MORE breakage.  Too much protein can also be bad.  There is a delicate balance between moisture and protein that needs to be achieved, but once it is, your hair will be stronger.

Why Type 4's Often Have High Porosity Hair at The Crown...

Now let's talk about WHY the porosity in that area is higher in the first place.  The hair in that area is growing out a totally different texture than the rest of your hair. high porosity hair I don't know for sure, but I'm going to take an educated guess and say that those of us with Sub-Saharan African roots have developed this trait to help protect our heads from the harsh sun.

There are certain traits that we Africans have that other people don't which helped protect our ancestors from the hot conditions near the equator. Our dark skin, our wide noses, and our hair.  So why would our crowns be any different?

If our crown hair didn't adapt and become kinkier to protect us from the harshness of the sun, our ancestors' scalps would've burned from the UV rays. Let's take a moment and appreciate the intricate way in which our God has shaped our bodies to protect us without us even knowing! (Praise break)

I'm more at peace knowing that there's a real reason for my crown issues and not some genetic anomaly that caused this.

How To Fix Hair Breakage at The Crown

Now let's get into how to minimize the breakage up there and hair thinning at crown.  Here are a few things you can do:

1♦ Treat your crown separately from the rest of your hair.  Give it its own section on wash day and provide it with mild proteins every now and then.  Also, moisturize and seal often. (see this article on Water Washing ONLY)

2♦ Reduce manipulation! Your crown is fragile due to its anatomic structure. The kinkier the hair, the more prone to hair breakage at the crown will be.  You'll have to baby it instead of becoming frustrated with it and manipulating it more.

3♦ Which leads to my next point: Try to avoid using the pick so often.  Instead of picking it out, you can use bobby pins to shape your hair.

4♦ Provide your crown with Oils that have UV protection to prevent hair breakage at the crown.  Macadamia Nut Oil has an SPF of 6 and Red Raspberry Oil has an SPF of 4.  Its not super high, but it may be just enough to make a difference.

5♦ Understand that even once it begins to retain length, it will still have more shrinkage than the rest of your hair. And that’s ok.

6♦ Reduce direct heat.  Flat ironing and blow drying do not help your crown at all.

7♦ Avoid permanent colors.

Teyana Taylor Betta Stop Playin' With Me!

Girrrrrrrl, Teyana Taylor has been doing the media circuit in New York to promote her new show that she will be featuring in along with her husband, Iman Shumpert, and their adorable baby girl.

But BUMP...ALL...THAT!

You see her blonde hair color and cut though?!?!

This woman's hair and style is FIERCE! She gonna have me grabbing some scissors in a minute if she don't stop playin' with my dang emotions, lol.

Everybody knows that Teyana Taylor used to have a head full of lusciously long hair, she would often give love and credit to Mane Choice hair vitamins, and maybe when/if she decides to grow her hair back, that will be her secret weapon again. But for now.... Honeeeeeey, she is ROCKIN' THE MESS outta that cut.

Teyana Taylor new show and Iman haircut

The crazy part is that I've NEVER been a fan of the blonde hair dye on black women, bit just never looked right TO ME (don't bite my head off for my humble opinion), but girrrrl, Teyana is changing my mind. At least she's changed my mind for how it fits her.

I will post a few pics below in the gallery so that you can see what I'm talking about.

Could You Rock This Blond Bombshell Look? Would You?

So now, I wanna hear from you in the comment section below. Could you pull this look off? Would you cut your hair to try this look? Or is this a "Hollywood" look that isn't practical for the normal person out here in the skreets?

Yes, I said "skreets". Don't Judge me...

Anyway y'all... Keep an eye out for her new show coming out soon called "Teyana & Iman", it's on VH1, so we're just gonna have to pray that the show aint super-ratchet. Lord knows I can't mess with none of the "Love & Hip Hop" shows no more. Girl, I feel like I'm disrespecting my ancestors watching that foolery, lol.

Hopefully Teyana's new show will help show a beautiful example of REAL Black love, family and positivity.

Like Drake says, "WE GON' SEE!"

So check out her SUPER CUTE photos that we captured from various interviews, the photo gallery below has them all and even a cute pic from when her hair was super long and full and she was reppin'for Mane Choice Hair Growth Pills.
