The Remington flat iron is a flat iron for people who have never used a top-tier flat iron and are looking for something cheap. Nothing wrong with that, it cost so little money that you really can't complain. But if you are looking for much better flat ironing and curling results, it may be wise to invest in a hair tool that is made for ultimate performance and that will last for a long time.

The natural hair puff is a go-to look for many stylish naturalistas.
The great thing about the natural hair afro puff is that you can use the style whether your hair is long or short.
This amazing high puff tutorial from I Am Posh Syd is specifically aimed at naturals with 4b and 4c type hair, but in reality many other naturals with different hair types can use this useful. Below we will also give you a list of the natural hair products she used to achieve her look.
After doing the Big Chop in order to go natural many ladies realize that they have no idea what to do with their ‘do.
The time period following the Big Chop is the perfect time to start building a relationship with your kinks, coils and twists. It is also the time when your luscious locs need the most tender, loving care and when you will train your hair how to retain its moisture.
Instead of covering you hair up and waiting for it to grow long, try a cute high puff on short natural hair. Creating this natural hair puff style should begin with damp, moisturized hair. If it is not wash day use a spray bottle to dampen hair and apply a great moisturizer. The natural hair puff style will work with hair as short as 1 inch long.
Hair Puffed Up
The secret to a full puff on short hair is to not put your hair in a ponytail but to use a headband to create the puff.
Moisten your hair with water and apply moisturizer.
Use a wide tooth comb and soft bristled brush to direct hair up to the top of the head.
Place the large headband around your neck.
Apply edge control, pomade or gel around the edges and nape and smooth with the soft brush.
Pull your headband up to your forehead and while using both hands slide the headband up until desired puff side is reached. The farther back you slide the band the smaller the puff will be.
Fluff out puff, smooth edges and add hair accessories if desired.
Hair Puffed Out Style
Complete steps 1-5 above.
Instead of pulling the headband straight back pull one side of the band over to the side -Example: If you want the hair to fall to the right pull the left side of the band over to the right.
Continue to step 6 above. Fluff your hair to cover the band.
Natural Hair Puff Around Version
Part hair from ear-to-ear and create a short side part on whichever side you prefer.
Create a braid or flat twist on each side of the part to frame the face (use of a holding product is optional).
Use bobby pins to secure the ends of each braid at the back of the head.
Fluff out the remaining hair.
Warning About Wrapping Your Hair Too Tight
As if a banging headache isn't bad enough, using super-tight headbands all day for the sake of a cute natural hair puff can put you at risk for traction alopecia, it's no joke. As the headband squeezes your head, it’s actually s-l-o-w-l-y sliding its way up, pulling your hair along with it. You can lose hair from those pressure points, namely the very front of your head, the temple region and the points a few inches behind your ears.
Soak your headband in an oil. The oil will help loosen the elastic bonds a bit. Afterwards, pre-stretch the band before you begin wearing it. Wrap it around a chair back or something wide enough to give a good stretch so that by the time you put it on, it won’t be as tight as when it was fresh “out the box”.
Make sure your hair is well-moisturized. Even when taking all the necessary precautions, you can still be at risk for breakage if you wear a hair accessory like a headband or scarf on hair that is in need of moisture. Those dry and thirsty strands are more prone to hair breakage.
Use a thin satin or silk scarf instead. You’re better able to control how tight your hair will be as you tie the scarf to form your natural hair puff. The main benefits of using silk and satin instead of cotton is that they won’t suck the moisture out of your precious hair.
Try pantyhose. It works! Pantyhose are nice and stretchy. Cut the foot and top of one side of an old pair lengthwise, so you have a piece long enough to wrap around the circumference of your head at least once. Like the shoelace, just tuck the excess in or use a couple bobby pins to secure the ends in place.
Use a shoelace. Yeah that's right! Look, your hair is going to cover it up anyways so don’t be worried about it. Most shoelaces are plenty long enough to allow room to “give” and then whatever excess you have left hanging, just tuck it underneath and no one will know!
Take a break. A natural hair puff can be a great go-to style for its simplicity but constantly wearing the same hair accessories day after day after day can definitely cause unwanted wear and tear on your hair.
Hopefully these tips can help you on your way to natural hair puff perfection without sacrificing comfort and safety!

When the QRedew came on the market, it was different from other products. Hair product review after review talked about how it could be used as a moisturizer, a curl refresher AND as a deep conditioner tool.
The Q-Redew handheld hair steamer is great for naturals because it uses warm steam as mist to enhance your hair’s natural texture and volume. The Q-Redew hydrates, reshapes and restyles dry hair in minutes according to its site.
What Are Q Redew Reviews Raving About?
Ease of Use – Women are to busy to be bothered with complicated hair equipment, people have lives to live, jobs to work and kids to raise. The Q-Redew hair steamer is super easy to set up and use. You simply fill the water reservoir, plug it in, and wait for the red light to say it is ready. The bonus is you can steam your hair in sections. If you are styling your hair, you steam, add your moisturizers, and style that section. If you are interrupted, you can stop and continue where you left off.
Works as a Super Moisturizer – So as you should already know, heat helps moisturizers get into the hair shaft. The Q Redew reviews have been claiming that this machine is like a hand-held super-moisturizer. When your hair needs a serious shot of moisture, naturals have been turning to the QRedew to handle the job. For example, If you have an old, dry twist out. You can just steam it, add a premium leave-in conditioner, and seal with an oil. Some naturals choose to do this instead of co-washing their natural hair.
Curl-Refreshing Ability – While water is moisturizing for natural hair, too much can cause tangling and excess shrinkage. This is a problem many naturalistas have to fight against. With the QRedew Steamer, you can quickly refresh your kinks and curls without applying too much water and causing shrinkage. For many naturals this advantage is a game changer.
The Q-Redew Work as a Detangler – Detangling my thick, dense hair is a battle that many naturals dread. Who doesn't HATE detangling? Well, according to the Q-redew reviews, when you use the natural hair steamer, it just melts through tangles with ease.
Safer Way to Stretch Your Hair – Many Q-Redew reviews mentioned that this tool is amazing for stretching your hair. When you steam an older do, your hair can get that moisturized blow out look!
Here are a Few Q-Redew Reviews From Other Naturals
First I want to say sorry for this long review but there is a good reason for it. Ever since I found out about this product I have been trying to come up with clever ways to steam my hair without shelling out all the money for the Q-Redew. I tried using the steamer from my Caruso Steam Rollers, it was very uncomfortable and there wasn't enough steam for me. So I went out and bought a My Little Steamer, for $20, and there was a LOT of steam coming out of that little thing and it got pretty hot.
It worked for me but I started to notice something on my hair I have never seen, small white dots about 1/4 in. from the bottom of my strands, and when I pulled on them, my hair would break off. I looked up possible reasons why this could be happening and I found out that these are usually caused by using heat on wet hair, that causes bubbles to form on the strands of hair, called bubble hair.
You may be wondering why this is a part of my review, it is a warning to you all. I don't use heat on my hair very often, I feel that the extreme heat from this small steamer (My Little Steamer particularly) is what caused these bubbles on my hair, and I have seen reviews where women say they use this steamer on their hair, and I would not recommend it. That steamer is definitely good for clothes, but not for hair (but that is whole other review). Using that streamer was the only thing in my regimen that had changed over the 2 weeks I was using it and noticed the damage to my hair. I really want to stress that in this review.
Ladies although you may have a found a loop hole around buying this device, you might end up experiencing the damage I experienced just to save a few bucks. Finally this brings me to my review of the Q-Redew. I know the price is scarey, but go sign up on the Q-Redew mailing list and wait on a good coupon, I used a $20 off coupon I got for a Black Friday sale, so in the end, the damage to my hair from the clothes steamer and the coupon made me decide to fork out the money for this device. I received it today, once they shipped it I got it within a few days, a lot sooner than I had expected.
I have 3c/4a medium porosity hair, and I am working on 4 day old dirty hair that has been in an afro puff 3 of those days and today I am rocking flattened, limp, slept on twist out from last night...I plugged this baby in, waited for it to heat up and went to work. I am very pleased with the results, my hair looking good and full and happy. It's looking like a good third day hair where my curls are full and yet still a little defined but not a matted mess. I only had to refill this once to complete my hair. I am excited about using this for my detangling and deep conditioning sessions. It is a lot smaller than I expected. I like the vintage mint green color, and I am very pleased that I decided to purchase this product. I do feel like women who like crunchy or stiff ultra defined curls may not like this product. I personally like that it give my hair volume and makes it look fuller within minutes. I don't need ultra defined curls I just want big happy healthy hair. I only knocked off 1 star because of the price.
I have NEVER had a better product. I use this thing at least twice a week. I steam, detangle, condition, and use it as a facial treatment some nights. I LOVVVVE it! I have 2 different textures in my hair, fine 4b on top and thick 4a on bottom. The texture on top always breaks no matter the technique. I have maximum hydrated, curly and tightly coiled, wide toothed combed, water only, hennaed, and oiled and sealed, It still breaks when I detangle. This Q-Redew has cut my breakage down and my anxiety. I have retained my entire 1 and 1/2 inches over the past 3 months. I even use it on my kids hair who all have different textures on the chart.
I dont have to spend dreadful time in the bathtub detangling their hair. I pull out the Q-Redew and its detangled, oiled, and styled in 10 minutes at the most AND it looks, feels, and is healthy. I can not express how much I love this thing. If you are having issues with your hair, if you have tried every method in the book, if you have curly, coily, or kinky hair then this tool is for you!
The only con I have experienced is that I have to refill the thing after each section of hair. To cut down on the annoyance of that, I keep a water bottle and fill up after each section. Refilling is not enough for me to remove a star. I fill like if the receptacle was bigger, the steamer could not be handheld, so I'm cool with it.
I hate screwing with my hair...there, said it. I am not one to spend an hour fussing and fussing ---I want to wash it, scrunch some product in it and go. And I want to have my hair look good the next day as well. Yup, asking for a lot. Well, with the Q-Redew Steamer, I can spend 5 minutes or less on my naturally curly hair on day two (often day 3 as well) and go. This item is so worth the money---it really works!
For my 4c hair that constantly needs moisturizing, this little gadget is simple and easy to use in the mornings. I do the LCO method almost every morning so this really helps. And it absolutely helps with detangling. I use it for everything. If you have 4c (really 4e) type hair, then you need this. Trust me!!
This product is easy to use. Fill the reservoir, plug it up, wait a few minutes... then bam!!! it's ready for use. It doesn't do as great a job as the hooded steamers, but its great for a midweek moisture booster.
You may be in love the crochet-braids look, but just don't have the time, energy or patience to put them into your own hair. Well there is a solution for natural who don't have the time for braid installation.
You can make a crochet wig instead, which you will definitely be able to get done much, much faster than crochet braids!
If you’re the type of woman who always gets the itch to change your hairstyles because you get bored quickly, the crochet wig will be a nice go-to option to help you switch your style up a bit. You can remove the wig on a daily basis or whenever you choose. Wigs give you the ability to care for your hair better as well, because there is nothing adding a barrier when you need to cleanse or moisturize your real hair. In this way, you'll be able to continue nourishing your hair with the best hair products and keep it healthy.
There is a big difference with this method versus doing crotchet braid. With crotchet braids, your hair is curled prior to you installing it on the wig. If you ever had to curl your extension hair using perm rods before you know the potential dangers of using boiling hot water. You have to be extremely careful in order not to burn yourself.
No worries using this crotchet wig technique, you will not have to be on high alert for this. The cool thing is, once you have set all the hair that you are going to use you can get all of your hair curled in one easy step. Simply place all of the hair in a bowl of boiling hot water, pat dry with a towel as you normally would to remove excess water and remove from the rod and crochet away.
When you crochet the hair onto the wig it undoubtedly will go a whole lot faster, because you can easily see what you are doing. Whereas when you are doing extensions, areas like the back of your head will be very time consuming.
This video by Lekita Antoinette shows how to make a marley braid crochet wig. Check her video out and please share this article on Twitter, Facebook & Pinterest if you have friends that may like this tutorial. (The share buttons are on the top - left side of your screen...)
This amazing bantu knot out alternative is what Jessica Pettway calls her “bantu flat out.” Never heard of that before? Well, that's because the bantu flat out is her unique technique.
For years in the natural hair game, Jessica couldn’t get the bantu knot out to work for her no matter how hard she tried! Not to mention, she didn't like the uncomfortable idea of trying to sleep with a whole bunch of knots in her head. So she invented an amazing alternative to the bantu knot out, a natural hairstyles version for women who are "Bantu knot challenged". Now naturals who have trouble with getting bantu knots can also enjoy the definition of a bantu knot out!
So what do you think about this bantu knot out alternative?
Many naturals with 3c, 4a, 4b, and 4c hair complain about their bantu knots never coming out right. Have any of you tried this before? Some say that this bantu knot out alternative method looks somewhat similar to pin curls. The results are really stunning and defined natural curls and Jessica has proven that that is definitely a great natural hair alternative to traditional Bantu Knots.
When Angelica Sweeting heard her young daughter wishing for blonde hair and white skin similar to her doll's, she decided to create "The Angelica Doll" for little girls with curly hair, wider noses, and fuller lips.
The doll comes with hair that you can twist and knot just like real-life natural hair.
Sweeting's Naturally Perfect Dolls Kickstarter campaign has already raised $23,000 of the $25,000 needed to launch production of the doll, which promotes positive beauty ideals and self-acceptance for young girls.
Sweeting and her daughters tested The Angelica Doll's hair for eight months with common natural hair practices, such as twisting, bantu knotting, and curling, to make sure little girls could style and wash their doll's hair exactly how they would do their own.
Lee's Article Highlights:
♦ First off, I want to to stress the importance of supporting Angelica's business. If you have the means to do so you can help her get these dolls made for thousands of little girls by contributing to her kickstarter campaign at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/angelica/the-angelica-doll-a-natural-hair-doll-for-young-gi and hey, I know it's hard out here on these skreets (yeah, I said SKREETS), so if you don't have money to help her get these dolls made then just share this article. Someone else who reads this might contribute and it will be because you let them know about it through sharing this story.
♦ I always love products like these and BlackHairOMG is known for promoting these kinds of businesses and products because they make a difference, I just recently wrote about the coloring book for natural hair kids. When children grow up rarely seeing a positive reflection of themselves in the things that they are entertained by it has a negative psychological effect.
Angelica's daughter thought that the standard of being beautiful was the dolls that she played with and nothing else. Little girls adore their dolls and so she began to adore what she was not and undervalue what and who she is. It's not a conscientious choice she made, it is the mental conditioning that comes from being exposed only to what is the opposite of yourself and being told that it's the most precious thing without seeing any alternatives. Natural hair dolls gives the girls a chance to see beautiful representations of themselves.
♦ This serves as a lesson to myself and you as well as far as business goes too. When you see something missing, something that is needed... MAKE IT. It's much more effective than wishing and hoping for something and it's a great opportunity to build a business, make money while giving people something they need and want. More people need to have the entrepreneurial spirit like Angelica. I'm supporting her, I hope you will too.
